Symbol of hope in Japan

There are some good news today.
On April 1st, after three weeks from the earthquake, a dog on the roof which was floating on the sea 1.8km away from Miyagi prefecture was rescued.
A lone pine tree still stands on the beach after the Tsunami, where 70,000 trees before.

今日はいいニュースです。

3月11日の地震から3週間後の4月1日、宮城県から1.8kmの海上で漂流していた屋根の上にいた犬が救助されました。
地震(じしん): earthquake
   3週間後(しゅうかんご): 3 weeks later
   宮城県(みやぎけん): Miyagi prefecture
   海上(かいじょう): on the sea
   漂流(ひょうりゅう)する: drift
   屋根(やね): roof
   犬(いぬ): dog
   救助(きゅうじょ)された: rescued (passive form)

もともと70,000本あったそうです。

Yes, it was some great news. I saw the same story about the dog on the TV news here and thought how amazing is that!!

I almost shouted out loud "Amazing!" when I watched the clip. It's really incredibly amazing.
