みなさん、こんにちは！

Brazil will host the 2016 Olympic, announced on Oct. 3rd.

｢日本だから、できる。あたらしいオリンピック｣　＝　“It’s because of that Japan can do it. The New Olympic.”
It is the slogan for the bid.

My student asked me why ｢日本だから、できる｣ = “Japan can do it”.
He said he understood it grammatically but didn’t understand why “It’s because of Japan” so “can do it”.

I thought that the infrastructure is ready for it, so any extra expense is required and it can be very compact from the point of locations.

The Tokyo governor, Mr. Ishihara said that “We will build up the system for foreign tourists information use our ubiquitous technology.”




10月３日, 2016年オリンピックの開催国がブラジルに決まった。

｢日本だから、できる。あたらしいオリンピック｣
これは日本の招致スローガンだった。

私の生徒さんから ｢日本だから、できる｣の意味がわからない、という質問があった。
文法的な意味はわかるが、どうして｢日本だから｣｢オリンピックができる｣のかわからない、というのだ。

私は、すでにインフラも整っているので、無駄な費用もかからず、場所的にもコンパクトにできるからだ、と思っていた。

石原都知事は「日本が誇るユビキタス技術を駆使し、来日した外国人観光客への観光案内等、システム構築を行っていく」と、スローガンの意味を説明していた。
